If I
asked you to apply a label to my work, the words 'abstract', 'modernistic'
or 'contemporary' might spring to mind, but I would prefer not to be pigeon-holed
in any particular way.
I approach
each painting as a bit of an adventure - a challenge and an experiment
- employing the three elements of shape, colour and texture to create
a visual impact. I see art as closely akin to music, with melody corresponding
to shape, harmony to colour and rhythm to texture. Many of my pictures
are influenced by my love of music.
I'm
also motivated by my love of Mediterranean countries. Greece in particular.
'Chromata' is the Greek word for colours - hence the name of the website.
Born
and bred in Wales, and having Welsh parents, I guess that makes me as
true Welsh as you can get, but I now live in England. Much of my life
has been mis-spent working in the IT industry, whereas I should have been
striving to create beautiful works of art.
